Hobbies outside work:

Mountain biking, road biking, hiking, trail running, woodworking, playing with Tilly.

 

Past experience/background:

 Graduated from Roger Williams University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and a focus on building science. After school, he worked for a custom home builder in Rhode Island building net zero, high performance homes. Growing up, he learned a variety of skills from his father as they renovated their family home, and also built furniture.

What do you enjoy about working in the construction industry?

“I love seeing spaces transform and seeing the tangible progress at the end of each day. Not only is the progress satisfying, but the manual labor is extremely rewarding.”

 

What is your favorite thing to do in the construction industry?

“I truly love all aspects, but if I had to pick one area, it would be finish carpentry.”

 

Best advice you were ever given?

“Be a sponge. Absorb as much knowledge as you can, as there’s always something to learn and improve upon.”

Chicken parmesan, burritos, chili, and peanut butter.

 “Being surrounded by craftsmen that are always looking to improve their skills and the end product.”

 

Best advice for someone who is looking to get into the trades?

“Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Be humble and be willing to learn.”

 

What advice would you give to someone who is considering a home remodel or building a new home?

During the planning phase, take into account all of the things that matter most to you. Whether that be craftsmanship, functionality, overall aesthetic, etc. and let that drive both your design and choosing your builder. Make sure those on your team are looking out for your best interest.”
